NAE:Social Impact Conference

From 9 to 11 October, six primary and six secondary pupils from NAS GZ travelled to the British School of Guangzhou to attend the NAE China Social Impact and EDIB Conference 2026. Student representatives from ten Nord Anglia schools across China gathered to discuss the theme ‘Making the Invisible Visible’, focusing on United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.

The opening ceremony began with ‘My Story’, encouraging pupils to reflect on their personal missions. The pupils then engaged in training sessions exploring questions such as: ‘What is social impact?’, ‘What is SDG 12?’, and ‘What changes can we make in our own communities?’. They uploaded their ideas to Padlet and took part in a lively SDG 12 quiz and mixed-group discussions to explore the significance of the theme within the Chinese context. On the second day, the morning began with the ‘Caring for the Homeless’ project, where students packed care parcels for people in need in Guangzhou. Students then led an art workshop, designing artworks related to SDG 12, followed by an innovation workshop and a creative exhibition to mark World Children’s Day. Four peer-led projects were presented: the ‘Caring for the Homeless’ project, ‘Rhinos for Hearts’ (Heart 2 Heart 2), and ‘Melodies of Hope’ (a charity concert).

On the final day, students will work in groups to develop social impact projects for their schools, which they will take back to their respective institutions – continuing to put the mission of ‘Learn, Share, Act’ into practice.
